Projekt Karin - ett nationellt projekt för kvinnofrid

Project Karin and Malmö University

At Malmo University, the Faculty of Health and Society is following Project Karin and is setting up an integrated evaluation and research work with a view to acquiring and disseminating knowledge to the students at the university as well as to the personnel at the concerned authorities.
There is a great need of knowledge and competence-raising training as how to elaborate the co-operation. In the spring of 2008, the Faculty of Health and Society in co-operation with the contracting unit at MalmöUniversity started a commissioned education called “Women that are exposed to violence and children that have experienced violence in close relationships". This 8 credit point course has been elaborated in close co-operation with the County Administrative Board and professionals.

The evaluation and research activities at the Faculty of Health and Society are approached in two parallel ways:
Documentation and analysis of efforts in the form of a flowchart, where a case can be followed from when it is initiated, and different parties and interventions can be mapped. The idea is to make a mapping, focused on identifying and describing the legal situation and the laws that meet when different authorities co-operate.
This means that issues concerning the results of the efforts, the organising of the work, co-operation, methods, the different professional roles, tasks and proficiency will be studied.

Responsible for Project Karin is Marie Torstenson Levander, professor at the Faculty of Health and Society, and responsible for education and competence raising activities is Lupita Svensson, head of Unit of Social Work  (Individual, Family and Society) Leili Laanemets and Sophie Hydén, lecturers at the Faculty of Health and Society, are also active within the project.
