The Swedish government has the intention to commission the National Swedish Police Board to take steps for the development of a physical environment adapted to crime investigations of violence against women and other abuse of women. Location, design, decoration of premises, selection of technical equipment and other facilities shall originate from and be adapted to the needs that are connected to the exposed women´s situation. The general purpose of the commission is that the results from this work will be used as a national model. An important part of this work is to disseminate information about the work and receive external study visits. The work shall be conducted together with the Skåne County Police and the basis of the activities shall originate from co-operation that is carried on by the Skåne County Police and the City of Malmö within the Programme for Women Exposed to Violence.
A woman who is a victim of violence finds herself in a very vulnerable and exposed situation. To make it possible for the society to take efficient and helpful measures to help her, it is important that she is given the best possible conditions so that she can contribute herself. It is necessary to have efficient legislation, sufficient personnel resources, competence and to have access to premises and technical equipment for interviews. These resources should be adapted to the women´s situation and the work methods that are applied. It is also important to have extensive co-operation between concerned authorities and organisations in order to obtain good results.
